February – April marks wildflower season here in Arizona! Hiking throughout the State just got a whole lot more beautiful. Scroll through some of of favorite wildflowers below.
Brittlebush- a very common bright yellow flower found on rocky hillsides on Arizona trails.
Bluedicks- a member of the lily family which can be found in a vast range of elevations in Arizona as well as color variations (white, purple, and pink depending on elevation)
Chuparosa- these red tubular flowers can be found throughout Arizona. Although normally red, can also be found in orange and yellow, these are a favorite for hummingbirds.
Coulter’s Lupine- flowering March – May this purple to blue flower can be found below 4,500 ft in central and southern AZ.
Desert Chia – commonly found in elevations below 3,500 ft in Arizona, purple to blue flowers bloom March – May,
Desert Chicory- white flowers in the sunflower family, commonly found in gravel and sand.
Desert marigold- found flowering from March – November.
California poppy- Found throughout Arizona in years of heavy rains.
